Julia’s Hope

I had never heard of this author before reading this book, but I must say, it was well worth the gamble! It is written from the perspective of the three primary characters, Julia, Sam, and Emma.

Sam and Julia find themselves at rock bottom, with no job and  no hope. But God’s provision led them to an old soul, with an old farm, and they all find they need each other.

This was an awesome read, and I would delightedly recommend it to you!

Fire by Night by Lynn Austin

I have been reading the Refiner’s Fire series, focusing on the Civil War Era. Fire By Night is the second book in this series and is told from the North’s persprective. The first was told from the South’s perspective, and the last will be from a slave’s perspective.

That being said, I really enjoyed this book. The story focuses on two women during the war, one coming from a wealthy background, and the other from a poor background. The characters meet eventually, and become friends.

I love anything to do with hospitals, doctors, and nurses, so I really got this book. One of the characters runs away to become a nurse at the field hospital. The other eventually ends up becoming a nurse too.

I love the personalities Ms. Austin gives the characters. They soon become your friends, as you see their struggles and victories.
I highly recommend this book!

All She Ever Wanted by Lynn Austin

Let me start off by warnine you. . . . You can’t put this book down! It is highly addictive and may make you miss appointments, burn supper, or forget your kids!

I love a book I can become so involved in. This one was all the more. I could not put it down.

It is the story of a teenager and her mother, who take a road trip to the mothers home town. Both mother and daughter stumble onto a mystery of the past.

This will make you cry!

Candle In The Darkness

I have never read a book by any other author that captures my attention and my Intrigue as Lynn Austin does. She intricately weaves a story in and out and leaves you mystified by her imagination and creativity, until you find yourself falling in love with the characters.
Candle in the darkness is set during the time when slavery is at the front of everybody’s mind and heart. Battles between morality and tradition are fought in every home, dividing the nation. In one of the bloodiest wars in history, the abolitionists declare a victory for all mankind!

I love how she weaves so much information into the background. I learn as I am entertained! My favorite aspect is how faith is always present.

Refiners Fire

Thicker Than Blood by C. J. Darlington

I just finished this book by Darlington, about two sisters and their lives after their parents are killed in a car crash. Now they are grown, 15 years later, and both feel a yearning toward the other. Estranged after the accident, they feel like strangers after all these years.

This was a pretty good read. It definitely gets better as you go. I almost put it down at first, but I am glad I finished it.

2 thumbs up, 3 stars ALL SMILES!

Book Review: Wings of Refuge

I must first admit to you, this book review will be slightly biased! Why? Lynn Austin is without question my FAVORITE author! This sweet lady can spin words into a Web that will have you bouncing up and down while reading. You will cry, laugh, and sometimes even shout out loud. This particular book was a Symphony of words used to melt your heart.

What kind of author can have 3 different story lines going simultaneously, yet never lose your interest for 1 minute? I love the way she weaves scripture into her books, making them almost like a devotional by the time you are finished. I am undeniably more informed about things after reading a book by Lynn.

I give this wonderefill book 2 thumbs up, 4 stars, and ALL SMILES!
