Book Review: Where We Belong by Lynn Austin

Lynn Austin’s newest book, Where We Belong, is a masterpiece in words! Never to disappoint, this author will intrigue you from cover to cover! Based on a true story about two sisters, this book will take you on a roller-coaster of emotions!

Where We Belong is a question many of us ask from the time that we begin puberty, until we grow very old. Why am I here? What is my purpose? When we believe in God, we put our trust in Him, that our lives will fulfill His greater purpose.

Jeremiah 29:11King James Version (KJV)

11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

We must trust that He knows us better than we know ourselves. His plans are greater than our plans. He sees the big picture.

In this book, the two main characters encounter many obstacles. Whether they are racing the great Chicago fires, sailing on treacherous seas, or melting in the Sinai Desert, they continue to walk in faith, influencing all who are with them.

Our walk during hard times will not only strengthen our faith, but it will also compel unbelievers to put their trust in God.

Soren, one of the young men in the story, decides to give his life to God, because he wants to be just like the sisters. Who is watching your life? Who have you influenced to follow God?

I read a comment someone made regarding this book, and it really impressed me. Are you a Rebecca, or a Flora? These two sisters both serve God, but they are very different. Flora is more reserved, more feminine. Flora loves to dress in beautiful dresses, and socialize. She has an insatiable desire to help the poor. In contrast, Rebecca hates all the frills of lady’s dresses. She despises all the pretenses of putting on aires, going to teas, and talking for hours about nothing. She desires true love and adventure! Which sister are you?

I received this book for my honest review by Bethany House.

Candle In The Darkness

I have never read a book by any other author that captures my attention and my Intrigue as Lynn Austin does. She intricately weaves a story in and out and leaves you mystified by her imagination and creativity, until you find yourself falling in love with the characters.
Candle in the darkness is set during the time when slavery is at the front of everybody’s mind and heart. Battles between morality and tradition are fought in every home, dividing the nation. In one of the bloodiest wars in history, the abolitionists declare a victory for all mankind!

I love how she weaves so much information into the background. I learn as I am entertained! My favorite aspect is how faith is always present.
